The Story Behind
I believe that names hold significance. Names anchor us to our heritage, our memories, and our values.
PeppaRose is more than just a brand name; it's a tribute to two remarkable women who shaped my family's legacy.
PeppaRose is named after my two grandmothers. My paternal grandmother Sasa's nickname was "Pep". My maternal grandmother's name was Rose. Combining these names, PeppaRose was born.
Sasa and Rose were different in many ways. Sasa was softly spoken and carried herself with a regal bearing. As far back as I can remember, she was always wore an elegant hat.
Rose was a striking beauty. I recall her penchant for turquoise eye-shadow and high heels, even in her sunset years.
Despite their differences, Sasa and Rose shared profound similarities.
Both women fled the pogroms of Eastern Europe as young ladies, immigrating to South Africa with vast amounts of hope.
Both were single mothers. Sasa was widowed when my father was just 13, unexpectedly left with a business to run and four children to raise. Rose was divorced - something unheard of in those days - with 5 children to raise.
Both women had tremendous strength and courage.
Their resilience, and dedication to their children were truly exemplary.
Naming my company PeppaRose is a way to honor these two extraordinary women and their enduring legacies. It's also a tribute to my parents, aunts, and uncles, who have shown me unconditional love and support throughout my life.
The name PeppaRose is a celebration of family, resilience, and the timeless values that have been passed down through generations.
With love from PeppaRose,
